Dear Basketball,(TJ’s Version)

🏀, it seems like I’ve known you my whole life. Yet we’re still getting to know one another. From dressing up from head to toe as my favorite players as a kid or just rocking a throwback as an adult and going to games. You’ve taken and continue to take me places I dreamed about. Put me in places and positions that I am eternally grateful for and never saw happening.

You are the friend I can always count on. The light in the darkness when things feel hopeless. You brought out the very best in me. As well as the very worst. You constantly show me how to navigate the craziness that is life. Thank you for being that outlet for me.

Although I feel like I owe you an apology. I hate how distant we got. But that’s on me also. I haven’t always gotten to be myself when it comes to you. Things get convoluted, outside pressure, and there’s a whole lot of miscommunication that happen — getting in the way of things.

Thank you for what you’ve given me. Thank you for always being there. Thank you for where we’ve been. Thank you for where we’re gonna go. Thank you for being such a great friend.

I hope I always do right by you.

♥️, TJ
